Michal Fargo // Number 5 Coral Noir
10.5 x 8 x 6.5 inches

Michael Fargo was born in 1984 in Tel Aviv, Israel. She grew up in the center of Israel and later attended the Bezalel Academy of Art and Designin Jerusalem. She opened her own studio in Tel Aviv and taught in several locations across Israel. In her studio, Michal worked on one-off pieces and also designed three collections mass produced by Spanish design brand PCM. Michal has won international awards for her work, and her art has been exhibited across Europe, China, Korea, and Taiwan. In 2014, Michal won the Clore and Bezalel scholarship, gaining her full tuition to attend the Royal College of Art in London.

In my work, I am driven by textures, materials, shapes, and surfaces. I deal with the thin line that lies between imitation and interpretation. I use naive, sometimes even barbaric, working methods while handling industrial materials. The clash between nature and industrialism is a great inspiration to me. In my work, I am trying to capture a longing to authentic nature, and at the same time, celebrate progress and its many benefits—maybe combine both emotions into one. My main ambition is to pursue authenticity and a personal aesthetic perception. I tend to get lost between the definitions of art, craft, and design; I find the semantics boring and unnecessary.
